Headphones Help Make Choreography Easier

Apr 18, 2012 by

I have been trying to help my daughter find the best in-ear headphones on the market for her choreography. She has to go through and listen to every song very carefully to decide if it would work for her gymnastic routines, so the ones that go in her ear are going to be the kind that best suit her needs. She wants to be able to wear them and dance around a bit, to see how she instinctively responds to the music, but she cannot have ones that go over her head. Anytime she wears that style, they slide around when she is dancing or jumping. The ones that go in her ears stay put and allow her to kind of go with the flow as the music begins to inspire her. If it was not for the headphones, she would have to have a stereo with her wherever she goes. She has been doing this for many years and has gotten to the point of receiving medals and awards, so she is now pushing herself to do even better. She has a competition coming up in about six months, so she is trying to decide on a new song to start putting a routine together. She has choreographed her own routines for the last two years, so these headphones to help her with that are long overdue.

Learning The Guitar – From One Beginner To Another…

Feb 10, 2012 by

Id like to think of myself as a guitarist.

That might sound contrived, but it think an accurate description of what i am is a amateur guitarist. Gibson Guitars are just fantastic, because they offer the best build quality and bang for the buck. Seriously. Even Dave Growl from the foo fighters swears by his gibson electric guitar, and reports its used on most of the Foo Fighters songs, on most of their records.

Im still learning, i try to take some time out of every day to sit down, find some tab of a song i enjoy, print it out, and belt out a version on the guitar. Its practice like this, i believe, that is the difference between someone who just casually plays guitar, and that of a pro.

Learning the guitar is easy, but it can be difficult at the start. Its difficult to get used to the fingering and some of the chord shapes, but once you get past that, youre well on your way to becoming a proper guitarist. It’s true that, when you’re learning a musical instrument , a lot of it comes down to the old saying – ‘practice makes perfect’

One thing i would recommend doing is learning a range of chords. Some chords are a lot trickier to learn then others as the fingering involves stretching your fingers and hands into positions you may not be used to. Doing this will increase your hand strength and improve the reach of your fingers. Dont expect this to be easy, as most people find it very hard in the beginning. Its like anything, with repetition and skill, youre working your way up to mastery, one day at a time.

Finally, give yourself some free time just to jam, and experiment. Guitars can make a range of sounds, and a lot of famous guitarists are known for their unique styles. Dont be afraid to try something new. Coming up with your own unique sound will help you a lot when it comes to people knowing who you are when its time to play in public.
